CTE Analysis

Report Location: Student>Student Custom Reports>CTE

Summary: This report displays different areas related to CTE reporting including CTE Codes, CTE Course Enrollment, IBCs, CCMR EWS IBC 2024, Programs of Study, and Career Clusters. It displays both counts and percentages for multiple years for comparisons along with drill downs of detailed student CTE data elements.

Usage: Use this detailed analysis for CTE coding verification, longitudinal comparisons, and specific grants and data requests.

Special Note(s):

• When comparing to TEA:
  • the CTE Code and Progam of Study sections are the only ones that have full TEA information since these values are uploaded in the File Center>TSDS>PEIMS CTE Student Roster if desired. See Loading TSDS – PEIMS CTE Student Roster for further information.
  • the CTE Course Enrollment, Industry Based Certification (Post Secondary Certification Licensure), and CCMR EWS IBC 2024 sections use the TEA CTE Code of 6 or 7 to tie into the OnDataSuite codes.

Definitions:

• CTE Code
  • OnDataSuite calculated CTE Code – see Auto Calculation of CTE and Program of Study Codes for further information
  • Total CTE Code Students – unique count of students in codes 5, E, 6, 7 (students can be in both rows 6 and 7)
  • Total Summer Enrollment Students – any student who attended at least one day reported in summer PEIMS
• CTE Course Enrollment
  • Any student in a particular grade level who has at least one CTE Service ID in their course completion records
  • Total CTE Course Enrollment Students – unique count of students who have at least one CTE Service ID in their course completion records
    • Note: If running for specific campuses, it only includes students who received a CTE service ID at those campuses.
  • Total Summer Enrollment Students – any student who attended at least one day reported in summer PEIMS
• Industry Based Certification (Post Secondary Certification Licensure)
  • Post Secondary Certification Licensure Code – E1640
  • Total IBCs – Sums all IBC rows
  • Total IBC Earned rows
    • 2022-2023 and beyond, student has a Post Secondary Certification Licensure Result Code – E1733 = 01
    • Prior to 2022-2023, student has at least one IBC (E1640) reported
  • Total IBC Passed – Starting with 2022-2023, student has a Post Secondary Certification Licensure Result Code – E1733 = 02
  • Total IBC Failed – Starting with 2022-2023, student has a Post Secondary Certification Licensure Result Code – E1733 = 03
  • Note: A student can be counted in more than one IBC Earned, Passed, or Failed rows if they have multiple IBCs with different results
  • Total IBC Students – unique count of students who have at least one IBC
• CCMR EWS IBC 2024
  • Pulled from the CCMR Early Warning System report found in State Accountability for 2022-2023 only
• Program of Study
  • OnDataSuite calculated Program of Study Code – see Auto Calculation of CTE and Program of Study Codes for further information
  • Total Programs of Study – Sums all Program of Study rows
  • Total Program of Study Students – unique count of students who have at least one program of study (only CTE code 6 and 7 students should have a program of study)
• Career Cluster
  • State Career Cluster found by matching CTE Service IDs and program of study codes to the cte-look-up-tables Excel file found here: PEIMS Calculations – Tech Tips
  • Total Career Cluster Students – unique count of students who have at least one career cluster

Calculations:

• CTE Code Percentages:
  • Individual CTE Code rows = CTE Code / Total CTE Code Students
  • Total CTE Code Students = Total CTE Code Students / Total Summer Enrollment Grade (selected grades) Students

• CTE Course Enrollment:
  • Individual CTE Course Enrollment rows = CTE Course Enrollment / Total CTE Course Enrollment Students
  • Total CTE Course Enrollment Students = Total CTE Course Enrollment Students / Total Summer Enrollment Grade (selected grades) Students
• Industry Based Certification (Post Secondary Certification Licensure)
  • Individual IBC rows = IBC / Total IBC Students
  • Total IBC Earned CTE Code 6 Students = Total IBC Earned CTE Code 6 Students / Total IBC Earned Students
  • Total IBC Earned CTE Code 7 Students = Total IBC Earned CTE Code 7 Students / Total IBC Earned Students
  • Total IBC Earned CTE Code 6 & 7 Students = Total IBC Earned CTE Code 6 & 7 Students / Total IBC Earned Students
  • Total IBC Earned Students = Total IBC Earned Students / Total IBC Students
  • Total IBC Passed Students (starting 2022-2023) = Total IBC Passed Students / Total IBC Students
