๐Ÿ“ Where to Find This Report

OnPoint โ†’ Assessment โ†’ STAAR โ†’ STAAR Quintile Report

This report replicates the lead4ward Quintile analysis model within OnDataSuite, allowing districts to examine student performance distribution and growth across five performance bands.

๐Ÿ‘ค What this report shows

The STAAR Quintile Report groups students into five equal performance groups (quintiles) based on their STAAR percent correct score.

Students are ranked from lowest to highest performance and divided into five groups:

QuintileDescription
Quintile 1Lowest performing 20% of students
Quintile 2Lower-middle performing students
Quintile 3Middle performing students
Quintile 4Upper-middle performing students
Quintile 5Highest performing 20% of students

Within each quintile, the report shows:

  • Student Name
  • Percent Correct
  • Annual Growth Measure

This layout helps educators analyze student growth patterns relative to achievement levels.

๐Ÿ’ก Suggested Uses

Districts and campuses use the STAAR Quintile Report to:

  • Identify growth patterns among high and low-performing students
  • Determine whether high-performing students are still growing
  • Analyze instructional impact across achievement levels
  • Identify students who may need enrichment or intervention
  • Support data discussions during PLCs or instructional planning

This report is especially helpful when evaluating growth distribution across the full achievement spectrum.

๐Ÿงญ Data Sources

The STAAR Quintile Report is generated using:

  • STAAR Assessment Results
  • Percent Correct values
  • Annual Growth Measure indicators
  • Student demographic and enrollment records

The quintile grouping is calculated by ranking students by percent correct score and dividing them into five equal-sized groups.

Growth indicators are derived from the STAAR Growth Measure.

๐Ÿ“Š How to Interpret This Report

Look for Growth in High Quintiles

Students in Quintiles 4 and 5 should still demonstrate growth. Lack of growth in these groups may indicate a need for advanced instructional strategies.

Examine Lower Quintile Movement

Students in Quintiles 1 and 2 should ideally show partial or full growth, indicating progress toward grade-level expectations.

Compare Average Percent Correct

Each quintile displays an average percent correct, which illustrates the distribution of performance across the grade level.

Evaluate Instructional Effectiveness

If most growth occurs only in certain quintiles, it may indicate instructional strengths or gaps affecting different performance groups
