Program of Study Analysis

Report Location: Student>Student Custom Reports>CTE

Summary: This report displays high school Program of Study percentages or counts by CTE code and grand totals within gender, ethnicity, and special programs.

Usage: Use this detailed analysis for Program of Study reviews and specific grants and data requests.

Special Note(s):

  • Grand Total POS Students row is a unique count on the student ID, not a sum of the CTE Codes 6 and 7. If a student has both CTE codes 6 and 7, they will only count once in the student count.
  • Report can be run at the region level for ESCs.

Definitions:

  • All total, gender, ethnicity, and special programs percentages and counts are based on summer PEIMS data for grades 9-12

    • Special Education – E0794 = 1 (C088)
    • Eco Dis – E0785 > 00 (C054)
    • Emergent Bilingual – E0790 = 1 (C061)
    • Homeless – E1082 > 0 (C189)
    • Foster Care – E1528 = 1 (C196)
    • Military Connected – E1529 > 0 (C197)
    • Migrant – E0984 = 1 (C088)
  • Total Grade 9-12 Students – Count of Summer Enrollment students for using as the denominator in the Total POS Students to Total Grade 9-12 Students % rows

Calculations:

  • Total Column Percentage by CTE rows (6-Concentrator and 7-Completer)
    • Total CTE Code Students / Total POS Students in that Program of Study
  • Gender/Ethnicity/Special Programs Columns’ Percentage by CTE rows (6-Concentrator and 7-Completer):
    • CTE Code Students in each column / Total column in that CTE Code row
  • Total POS Students to Grand Total POS Students % rows
    • Total POS Students in every column for each program of study / Grand Total POS Students, every column, found at bottom of list of program of studies
  • Total POS Students to Total Grade 9-12 Students % rows
    • Total POS Students in every column for each program of study / Total Grade 9-12 Students row
  • All Programs of Study rows
    • Student counts are unique ID counts summed together for all programs of study and not a sum of the programs of study
  • Grand Total POS Students Gender/Ethnicity/Special Programs Columns’ Percentage row
    • Each columns’ student count / Total column
  • Grand Total POS Students to Total Grade 9-12 Students % row
    • Grand Total POS Students in every column / Total Grade 9-12 Students row

Features:

  • Filter on:
    • Single select Year – Default most recent PEIMS summer file
    • Multi select Programs of Study – Default All Programs of Study
    • Multi select Campuses
      • District/Campus Summary – Selected alone displays district summary totals (Default)
      • Campus(es)
        • Selected without District/Campus Summary displays each campus individually separated
        • Selected with District/Campus Summary displays each campus individually separated along with a Campus Summary of all campuses selected
      • Note: If running at region level, Region/District Summary is available and works the same as the district level except it uses LEAs instead of campuses for individual selection.
    • ODS/TEA – Indicates whether to display OnDataSuite auto calculated Program of Study and CTE codes or TEA uploaded Program of Study and CTE codes
      • Default ODS
      • Note: TEA not available at region level since CTE rosters are loaded on individual LEA sites.
    • Percentage/Student Count – Indicates whether to display Percentages or Counts for the individual program of study rows for each CTE code and the Total POS Students to Grand Total POS Students rows
      • Default Percentage
    • Toggle Student Count – Can be used in conjunction with Percentage filter selection to view numerator values
      • Notes:
        • Clicking this button automatically turns on/off the student counts; the Submit button does not need to be clicked.
        • When exporting to Excel, turn off the Toggle Student Count in order to have just the percentage value appear in a cell.
    • Focus List – Use to run report for specific groups of students, for example, a single grade level.
  • Drill down on Percentage or Student Counts to review detailed student information including the special progam indicators
